What is the best 55+ community in Central Florida? Well, I’ve been asked this question a couple times lately, so I thought I’d take just a few minutes to tell you about Cresswind at Victoria Gardens in Deland, Florida. I’ll give you some of the reasons I love Cresswind at Victoria Gardens!

First, let’s address what Cresswind at Victoria Gardens IS. Victoria Gardens is a manned gated, active adult community in Deland about 30 miles north of Orlando and 25 miles inland from Daytona and New Smyrna Beaches. Victoria Gardens is one section of the larger Victoria Park residential community in Deland. The Gardens tends to be a quiet community, despite its close proximity to I-4.

The Gardens, which still has new homes being built, currently has about 1,200 single family residences. As of today, homes are mostly selling in the 400’s. The homes in the Gardens are built on small lots and are packed in, but that doesn’t seem to bother anyone here as their homeowner association dues, which are about $425/quarter include the lawn care, reclaimed water, cable, HD TV and high-speed internet.

Speaking of those dues, what amenities does that kind of money get you? Well, it gets you quite a bit!

• Access to all amenities in all of Victoria Park – and they don’t have access to the Gardens

• Private clubhouse with a full-time lifestyle director managing clubs & activities

• Cruises

• Bird watching

• Skeet shooting

• Dances, etc

• Resort-style pool (again, the rest of Victoria Park doesn’t have access)

• Fitness room

• Ball room

• Pool tables

• Library

• Card and arts and crafts rooms

• Lighted tennis, pickleball and bocce ball courts

• Finally, the golf course is right across the street!

Something else I really appreciate is the sense of community that they work to develop here. There’s a weekly newsletter with community issues, upcoming events, athletic schedules for meetups and all sorts of things that help the residents feel a sense of belonging.
